Phases of Orthodontic Treatment
Developing the Right Plan for Orthodontic Care
Your child is eligible for braces at almost any age. However, we are in accordance with the American Association of Orthodontics which recommends children have their first orthodontic evaluation at seven-years-old. This begins the first phase of orthodontic treat which focuses on the health of the developing jaw and can lead to better health for the permanent teeth when they come in.
Choosing multi-phase orthodontic treatment can:
- Prevent the need for more invasive treatment later
- Prevent possible jaw surgery
- Optimize oral health
- Cause longer lasting results
The second phase of orthodontic treatment will typically focus on making sure each permanent tooth is in the optimal position for aesthetic and functional reasons. This step will normally involve lower and upper braces. For more information regarding orthodontic phases from our Mission Viejo orthodontist, give us a call now at (949) 364-1171!
